Lissitzky When the first issue of Wendingen (1918-1931) appeared it caused commotion. The format, typography, binding and style were unknown. Wendingen was meant as a magazine for intellectual Holland, its issues covering modern Dutch architecture and arts. Dutch artists and architects made almost all the covers. El Lissitzky was among the few foreign artists that were commissioned to design a cover. El Lissitzky's is among the most famous of the Wendingen covers.
